CHARADE to secure Japanese-Deal for "II"!
They’ve made it! Not only their debut CHARADE "I" saw a release in the Land of the Rising Sun in 1998, even the brandnew follow-up CHARADE "II" found a new partner for Japan. The longplayer will be released on December 16th on the well known AVALON-label including the bonus-track "Keep On Fighting" (but the Japanese version of CHARADE "II" will not be a double-CD including "I" like the European edition which will be released on October 25th via Drakkar/BMG). CHARADE Info The return to the source of Melodic Hardrock Melodic Hardrock - long forgotten pearl of the rock-spectrum of our times - rises again! When in the beginning of the 90's the two outstanding-rock musicians Angel Schleifer (guitar, Ex-BONFIRE, Ex-PRETTY MAIDS, Ex-SINNER, Ex-DEMON DRIVE) and Michael Bormann (vocals, JADED HEART, Ex-BONFIRE, Ex-THE SYGNET, Ex-BISS, Ex-LETTER X, Ex-JUERGEN BLACKMORE) teamed up, the Grunge-wave has been rolling around the globe - a bad forecast for a small baby named CHARADE and the Melodic Hardrock in general. Angel, playing his tunes and writing songs for BONFIRE at that time, had already finished a couple of songs for "I" when he meets Michael, who is going to be the substitute for the just left Claus Lessmann. Bormann and Angel not only write new material, Michael hits the road with the band joining VICTORY and FAIR WARNING on tour. He not only plays this tour, but various single-shows in his 2 year-bandmembership. They offer these tracks as "the new BONFIRE-album" to several record-companies, but nobody seems to have interest to release it - the band splits up. Together with Joerg Deisinger (Ex-BONFIRE, SOUL DOCTOR) Angel jets over to New York and Los Angeles to refresh his business contacts he made on several U.S.-trips before. They both find support in shape of STEVE PLUNKETT (AUTOGRAPH) and MARC RIBLER (who composed "American Nights" on BONFIRE's "Fireworks" and produced the Canucks HELIX) so that they can regroup with Claus Lessmann and Hans Ziller to write songs for "Point Blank" in New York. The idea of a BONFIRE-album with Michael Bormann on vocals has been abandoned. After that Angel goes into deep with PAUL SABU and Michael pushes his band JADED HEART, his solo- and producer-career in his own studio. The material they've done together disappeared in the archives till Angel digs it out in 1998 for a Japanese release. He just thinks the songs too strong to bin them and so "I" has been released in Japan via Bareknuckle on the 27th of May 1998 with a big success. Until today there's a lot of expensive Imports of the CD on the German market. The double-CD in your hands is therefore the first official release of "I" in Europe ever. In the year 2000 Angel, he meanwhile emigrated to Phoenix, AZ, digs out even more treasures - finding rudimentary song-ideas of the sessions to CHARADE "I". He sends them over to Germany to Michael, but the musical obligations of them both end up with the fact that the material gets lost again. In the beginning of 2003 Michael suddenly remembers the recordings, lays his vocal-tracks onto them and sends them back to Angel. Angel freaks out because the stuff's a smasher. He reworks some of the parts - CHARADE "II" is ready to roll. But again there's major delay. Michael Bormann enters the studio in the summer of 2003 to record JADED HEART's phenomenal February 2004 release "Trust". Straight after hitting the road with his combo German label-legend BOGDAN KOPEC of DRAKKAR ENTERTAINMENT is keen on the CHARADE-material and starts the return to the source of Melodic Hardrock.
